This light engine came wandering down from North Edmonton to turn on the wye at Bretville Jct. It's the numberboard that caught my eye. Duct tape holding the cardboard onto the unit, black electrical tape (which is peeling off)for numbers. I bet the cardboard has a unique glow at night, LOL. As amusing as this may be, these are signals that the old GE's are nearing the end of usefulness (my guess) on the CN. I find these C40-8's just as appetizing as many of the lease units that pass by.

  1. Wow! The Red Green reference fits this repair job perfectly. Good one Paul. :-D
i was trying hard to have a snappy comeback with engine and ingenuity for your comment. Couldn’t come up with anything to satiating. Thus the ramble about variety. Thanks again for the Red Green, the master of duct tape.

  2. No favourites for me either. My comment is on the ‘Red Green’ number board repair. :-)

  3. Oh you two guys. LOL (again).
I will say that I’m no GE lover. But for me, variety comes before favouring one loco maker to another. Future prospects look glim for us photo takers (already pretty much so on the CP). I’m enjoying the old beater parade while it lasts.

  4. Piece of junk. Time for the torch

  5. Geez! I thought ‘Ingenuity’ was CP’s slogan!!! :-)
