Stack talk accompanies exhaust smoke as four MLWs throttle up after making a lift at Galt (Cambridge). C424 4223, RS10 8595, an RS18 and an FB2 will have their work cut out for them climbing the grade to Orrs Lake, but on this day they'll make it to top in one piece. Note there is only one unit in the CP Rail scheme, which was four years old at this date.

  1. The crossing tower was for Hwy 8 Dundas Street. An overpass was built here shortly after and Brooke Street was closed off, leaving Bond Street as the only level crossing.
The gateman’s job of course disappeared too.

  2. Great shot James…one question…crossing tower in background…is the a level crossing for Highway 8?

  3. I like your picture!

  4. Thanks Pierre. The Chev was mine. It was a tank!

  5. Super great one,the M-424,the red box car ,the stock car and the 67 chev.
