On May 6th, 2014, I was at the 14th Ave crossing of the CN York Subdivision shooting train Q149 with 5665 on the point. I had just gotten my then-new Canon 5D Mk III two months previous and was having a lot of fun taking it out railfanning that Spring.

Later in the evening at Waterdown Rd, I caught a westbound CN freight getting underway out of Aldershot yard with a great consist...C44-9W 2561, SD60F 5560, and SD75I 5755. I am going to guess that this guy was either a 300-series manifest or an A435.

CN GP9RM's 7039 and 4138 are seen drilling cars in Aldershot yard on a warm Spring afternoon back in 2014. I'm not too sure if this was simply a yard job shunting cars around or if this was in fact a road local bound for Stuart Street in Hamilton...either way a great train to catch in the sun. I have a few more shots from this same time in May that year that I will upload this week.

In between shadows cast by the numerous condos downtown, an inbound Milton GO train rushes into the Union Station Rail Corridor off the Galt Subdivision with a shortened COVID-era consist. I recall Curtis was with me for this one.

Throwing it back four years earlier to 2010, we see a westbound CP manifest freight stopped short of the signals at Bartlett Ave in Toronto's west end with a trio of SD40-2's for power. CP 6001 and the 5878 behind her were still sporting the mid-90's dual flags scheme back then, and 5878 even had it's class lights intact. This train was either a 400-class train for Sudbury or a 200-class train for Chicago...I have no notes on this guy unfortunately. I believe Mr.JA was with me this day.

An eastbound CWR work train loaded with ribbon rail cruises eastbound through the neighbourhood. Not sure if this was a work train for the Galt, Mactier, or Belleville Subs. Big points for the cylindrical hoppers for buffers. This consist had a work van on the tail end to boot.

In May of 2014, CP train no.147 showed up around the bend at the Rosedale pedestrian bridge with three SD40-2's hauling a train of autoracks for the Indiana Harbor Belt in Gibson, IN, outside of Chicago. This was back when CP Rail was still fun. James Adeney might have his videos and photos of this train somewhere!

What I believe to be either M314 or M305 heads westbound uphill past Hilda Ave in Thornhill on a sunny afternoon back in the Spring of 2014. Leading the freight is a former EMDX SD70ACe painted up in the blue and navy demonstrator scheme...now under the ownership of CN. I recall CN picked these up after leasing them either in early 2014 or late 2013...not sure on the exact date.

The lavender is blooming in the township of Caledon, and with the arrival of Spring comes the prevalence of work trains on the CP Rail system... Here at Palgrave we see welded rail train 4WMA approaching Hunsden Sideroad on the main after laying ribbon rail along the Mactier Sub in a couple of spots.

During the latter part of January 2026, Toronto received a record dumping of snow not seen since the 1940's...I went out into whiteout conditions to try and find some trains. I started locally on the North Toronto Sub and as luck would have it, what I believe to have been CP no.113 appeared out of the snow trudging through the storm westbound with CP 8735 up front. After the North Toronto I headed east to <a href="https://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=58346"> Danforth </a> in order to shoot GO and VIA in the snow.

BCOL blue Dash 9 4653 leads a truncated Q102 south through Mt. Albert enroute to BIT on a sunny March afternoon. Due to things getting a little hectic up north on the Ruel Sub due to trains dying in the sub-zero temperatures, Capreol at the time was chock-full of intermodal trains split up into blocks, awaiting an opportunity to continue south pending power and crew availability. This no.102 was quite short, only a few thousand feet in length, punctuated by CN 2697 on the tail end (the locomotive what was previously the mid-train DP), that somehow had it's bell left on, ringing all the way down to Toronto from up north.

A few weeks ago now, Toronto got dumped with 56 centimeters of fresh snow, the largest one-time snow fall in Toronto's history, and a record for the city. Now, I love a good snow day, and what better way to be a part of a real-life snow globe than to pack my camera and head trackside? I found two stack trains on the CP Rail before I headed towards the lake, hoping to find somewhere I could shoot high speed intercity and commuter trains kicking up flakes. I decided on Danforth and I think I made the right choice, as here we see VIA no.53 from Gare Centrale heading west down the last few miles of the MX Kingston Sub for Union Station in the downtown core. Admittedly, this guy was moving very cautiously passed the platforms, likely going no more than 15 per hour. Frankly, I'm shocked a charger set made it that far on it's own without taking a dump and stranding everyone for seven hours.
