Albert enroute to BIT on a sunny March afternoon. Due to things getting a little hectic up north on the Ruel Sub due to trains dying in the sub-zero temperatures, Capreol at the time was chock-full of intermodal trains split up into blocks, awaiting an opportunity to continue south pending power and crew availability. This no.102 was quite short, only a few thousand feet in length, punctuated by CN 2697 on the tail end (the locomotive what was previously the mid-train DP), that somehow had it's bell left on, ringing all the way down to Toronto from up north.' height='150' width='200' />
Now, I love a good snow day, and what better way to be a part of a real-life snow globe than to pack my camera and head trackside? I found two stack trains on the CP Rail before I headed towards the lake, hoping to find somewhere I could shoot high speed intercity and commuter trains kicking up flakes. I decided on Danforth and I think I made the right choice, as here we see VIA no.53 from Gare Centrale heading west down the last few miles of the MX Kingston Sub for Union Station in the downtown core. Admittedly, this guy was moving very cautiously passed the platforms, likely going no more than 15 per hour. Frankly, I'm shocked a charger set made it that far on it's own without taking a dump and stranding everyone for seven hours.' height='150' width='200' />
Due to not having an SBU available, the movement was restricted to 15 miles per hour for the whole trip, limiting the crew's ability to make Mac Yard, thus the train was yarded in Oshawa at daybreak. CN L54632 04 consisted of CN GP9 4125, ex-ONT coach RPDX 2514, and an ex-VIA/nee-CN baggage RPDX 9636...the Rapido reporting marks tip us off as to the equipment's destination, which I can only guess will be Salford on the Ontario Southland, who will do the job of repainting both cars at the behest of the VIA Historical Association. In this scene, lone Geep 4125 tiptoes past the platforms at Markham GO station, headed northwest towards Lincolnville layover facility where the two cars are parked awaiting a lift.' height='150' width='200' />
The Q107 derailed on the northwest quadrant of the Doncaster diamond, which is the same connector that VIA needs to be able to reach the Bala after using the MX Newmarket and York Subdivisions on their way out of the city.

As luck would have it, Snider Sunday was in effect at Snider West when we got word of no.1 using the Oakville Sub...beyond Mimico Toronto Maintenance Centre. This gave us the notion the train A) was not cancelled and still very much in service, and B) was likely utilizing the entire Oakville Sub to reach Bayview Jct, the idea being no.1's crew would wye at Bayview and travel all the way back east, bypassing Union station, and climbing up the Don Valley to get back on track for their trip, albeit four hours later than originally intended.
