BNSF 2926 GP39E still retains its white face BN paint along with its as built GP35 look, Exterior only changes are middle cooling fan removed and air conditioning on cab roof added. CN local 518 splitting the signals at Tate Road Trenton heading to Cobourg. The hoppers are loaded just out of the Tri county mill in Trenton.2926 has to be one of the longest assigned units to Belleville. Arrived early May and still there as of October 17th. The second unit assigned to 518 has been changed out three times since,

With a short but yet heavy train and a light mist in the air 519 is working hard to get track speed out of the two GP38-2s as it heads west at Second Doug hill Road in Trenton. Hidden from view the 4789 puts on a good show. On its way to Cobourg and Port Hope, returning back to Belleville as 518 ,

After finishing the night shift at CP Quebec street, a 15 minute walk over to the cn was always in order before heading home. today would be a nice surprise all round. we started off with two eb freights, one run threw with crew change, the other tying up in the yard at Egorton street. Next eb and wb passenger trains made up of RDC,s. Besides the tie gang working, a ballast train made up of a single GP9 and about 12 orange ballast cars headed east. just as the ballast train cleared the west bound Amtrak with two F40s and 10 cars made its appearance. And now our picture. CN work extra RS18 3113 has finely been given permission to proceed. The unit will go along the north shop lead past the car department, then back up on the south side of the London auxiliary back across rectory street to pick up its train of gondolas, an american crane and transfer caboose. The gondolas where filled with large corrugated pipes. The work extra headed east to parts unknown as i headed home for some sleep. a nice morning spent at CN and there constable only stopping to say good morning.

Having left London only a few minutes earlier, a pair of EB Via FP9s approach Minnie street in Dorchester. unfortunately most of the info on the slides is badly distorted, can any one shed some light on location if wrong and train number. only real memory is the sound of the units throttling up even at speed.

With white flags firmly attached in there holders , Sooline SD40-2 778 is wasting no time handling train 503 threw the curves at audley MP183 on the belleville sub. Upon arrival at agincourt yard the train will pull down to the signals at McCowan road holding the north main for a crew change.Mechanical staff from the diesel shop will give the power a quick inspection and clean the cab. At the same time a London crew will board to continue west.

Work extra 900 has now crossed over to the south track at Brighton. The crew is busy obtaining there track permits from the Montreal dispatcher. They will be busy placing rail beside the south track between Brighton and Grafton.

Work extra 900 west powered by CN GP40-2lw , manufactured by GMD London in 1975. The sweet sound of a turbo-ed 645 prime mover along with the old school CN Nathan three chime horn. A friendly wave from the crew and an excellent start to a day of rail fanning.

Employees at the P&H Tri county mill have just spotted and tied down two hoppers for loading. Once their new track mobile is clear of the rails loading will begin. The siding has a 7 car capacity. Two loads have been pushed to the south. The bridge in the background is the CN Kingston sub. This is at mile 32.18 on CN,s old Marmora sub. The last existing portion of the line from Marmora to Trenton. CN normally switches the mill on Thursdays and Sundays. Access to the line is from a connecting track just east of the Via station at Quinte west/ Trenton.

the last rays of sunlight fade fast as via eb 6413 passes Trenton jct and 10 minutes from its station stop in Belleville . The rise in the north main rails is the stone/steal bridge over the Marmara sub. CN still serves the tri county mill and feed here on a twice a week scheduled, more during the fall harvest if needed. An interesting area for rail fans or model railroaders looking for something different.

A CN/Brandt powered ballast train sits atop the bridge over Thickson road in Whitby. The work train will proceed just east of thickson road where an excavator will begin unloading the snow coloured ballast from the top of the cars. Work on the GO line here is part of the GO,s maintenance facility with new track and signals.

Sandwiched between a pare of CN GP38-2w,s CN GP9 7258 sports the 15th anniversary logo 8 years later. Being the middle unit in the consist and with remote capability the 7258 is actually the lead engine.Taken from the south roadway off cn property. The consist is without the east end GP38 ( Dec 4th ).

One of several CR GP35,s on lease to CP. Unfortunately an unwanted or welcome model. GP38 and SD40s would replace the 35s. The 2277 only lasted a short time before being returned, as i understand at the request of Conrail.

A west bound coal train headed for Roberts banks crosses just one of many stone viaducts near Hell,s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. 3 mid train helpers or slaves as known back then rounded off the power. i had the exact location recorded, but time has misplaced it. if any one could help, please do.

For many years power short CP would rent, lease or test any thing with wheels to keep it trains moving. Here on its first trip in to Toronto MPI SD40m-2 9019 sits ready for service. The 18 cylinder engine has been replaced with a 16 cylinder EMD 645e3, and all the electrical has been updated to dash 2 standards. Early morning sun captures the paint nicely .

Test units from, GE, UP 9413 and 9409 lead CP 4217 on train 508 around the curves at Audley passing under Salem Road. With another GE, UP unit and several BC Rail dash 8s testing in coal train service out in western Canada. 26 years later its safe to say that testing proved successful for CP
