It's that time of year again. Time to spray the weeds along the CPKC Windsor Subdivision. After sitting in London for 3 days CPKC SD60 #6222, with Train 4WWI-30, finally made it's way toward Windsor to take care of those pesky weeds. Here 6222 is at MP 88 of the CPKC Windsor Subdivision, just west of Haycroft, Ontario (where the mill in the background resides). Personally, based on the vegetation along the ROW, I think they are spraying fertilizer b/c it always seems to get worse after they do this each year, but it's nothing that a good hand sickle and a little time can't fix. :-)

After shooting CPKC 9766 at Belle River I happened to hear another eastbound getting a clearance out of Windsor. Thanks to Bob Burd for a timely heads up and I was able to snag KCS 4154 East, CPKC Train #134, at Elmstead as it crossed the Pike Creek Bridge.

After dropping off Matthew at school the other day I happened to hear a CPKC eastbound on the radio so I hustled over to the East Siding Switch Belle River to grab a shot. Here CPKC 9766 leads an early Train #230 past the signal at MP 92.8 of the Windsor sub on a beautiful April 22nd morning.

With a heads up from several guys further east on the Windsor Subdivision I was able to catch today's CPKC #137 as it approaches Banwell Road crossing, just east of Walkerville, on the CPKC Windsor Sub. Today's power is BNSF ES44AC #5727 and KCS SD70ACe #4142 somewhat mimicking yesterday's 137 which had CSX #7115 and a KCS unit. Nice seeing some of foreign power leading again westbound on the Windsor Sub.

Mixing it up.... CSX CM44AC #7115 leads CPKC Train #734 past the Belle River mile board just east of Belle River, Ontario on April 19, 2026. Been quite a while since I've seen a CSX lead on the CP around here, let alone even bother to go out an shoot anything, but this colorful lashup got me out for a bit. About 10 minutes prior to this shot being taken it was dark and snowing!!! Guess April 19th was just full of unexpected things.....

Another delayed VIA #73. Here we have VIA Charger #2217 leading a 1 hour late Train #73 as it approaches the Rochester T/L crossing just west of Stoney Point, Ontario. #73 has completed a meet with CN Train #438 just east of here and is not accelerating toward Windsor. Added to the photo is one of our local idiots who decided to take his 4-wheeler for a run along the ROW to film the train as well. I'm sure Darwin will have a conversation with this guy eventually.

With a heads up from Brady Butler when train #331 passed Tilbury, I was able to get out to get a decent shot of train #331, with a pair of fresh CPKC GE's, as it approaches Renault Line in Emeryville, Ontario on February 15, 2026. #331 was a solid train of about 200 empty grain hoppers headed back to Western Canada via Chicago for re-loading.

VIA Train #73 can be seen accelerating out of the siding in Stoney Point, Ontario after having met CN train #438 just a few minutes ago. Train #73 is running a little over an hour late at this time and the meet in Stoney Point just added a few minutes to the trip for everyone on board.

What started out the day as a hopeful sunny morning shot when CPKC train #230 arrived in Windsor, ended with afternoon clouds and dullness. The only good thing was that KCS 4859 the, "Safety Starts Here" unit, was still on the point of CPKC Train #230 as it rolled through Belle River, Ontario.

Something 'different' for a change. CPKC Train H89 rolls through Emeryville, Ontario on November 2, 2025 with a GP20Eco unit on the point to give us fans something different to shoot instead of the regular GE's that parade up and down the Windsor Subdivision. Not that it's something we haven't seen before, but it's just nice to seem something else to break up the normal stuff.

With the Detroit Renaissance Center looming in the background, VIA Charger #2229 leads eastbound VIA Train #76 out of Tecumseh, Ontario on October 31, 2025. With a mix of cloud and sun in the sky, and with about 1 minute to spare, the sun popped out to light up the shot and the little bit of Fall color that is still hanging around in the area.

Cheater shot... VIA Train #71 crosses the bridge east of Duck Creek just outside of Belle River. #71 is actually being led by cab control car #2312, but the shot of the #2212 loco pushing on the rear made for a much nicer shot, making this a decent 'cheater'.

October 20th VIA Train #73 was running almost 2 hours late on it's trip from Toronto to Windsor. I had heard that the "Lumi" set was on it and I wanted to try to get it with a bit of Fall color, but b/c it was running so late I was already home. When I saw that it had left Chatham I headed over to the VIA tracks in Belle River and, after waiting for what seems like forever, got this shot of "Lumi" in behind Rona. Turned out not too bad, but had really hoped for more color in the trees. Oh well.... Next year.

CP 8101, in the new CPKC paint scheme, leads CPKC Train #135 through Emeryville, Ontario on March 25, 2025. This was the first CPKC scheme unit I have had the opportunity to see or shoot. Luckily the sun worked in my favor as the clouds parted when 135 was about a mile away and came back before the train had completely passed by, but as I have said in the past, "I'd rather be lucky than good"..... :-)

Essex Terminal SW1500 #107 sports it's new suit at Ojibway Yard on Windsor's West end on January 20, 2025. Now 3 of the 4 ETR units have been painted with 108 the last hold out in ETR's traditional black and yellow. Although I do like 104 and 105's schemes better, I'm sure 107 will grow on me over time as it will be painted like for a LONG time.
