"Pride of Mac Yard" is written on the side of the CN 4908, one of many former GMTX GP38-2's bought by CN to fill out the 4 axle power shortage, while these units await upgrades and new paint. CN elected to press them into service for the time being.

<b>A reflection of today's activity..</b> While we were supposed to go to Aldershot, we remained on standby as heavy rains pounded the Greater Toronto Area rendering Aldershot Yard closed due to flooding, so basking in the summers afternoon sunlight is the train tied down on track 36 awaiting it's next road assignment.

A rare and lengthy VIA 97 rolls through Hamilton as the eastbound GO at West Harbour awaits to depart on time, the whole reason for the 2 unit, 10 car consist was all in part of AMTK 92 having locomotive issues Thursday night. Plans to add a VIA locomotive to bring the disable Maple Leaf train to Niagara Falls on Friday were kyboshed so instead the consist was added to Friday night now Saturday mornings Maple Leaf set for the run to Niagara Falls and beyond.

Not often does an opportunity exist like this and being a locomotive engineer for the bigger railroad does have it's advantages. Never the less I took the opportunity to park my local road switcher over the CP Galt Sub in anticipation for a train and as the railfan gods blessed me with this CPR westbound within minutes flying under my train headed for Wolverton and London.

February 15, 2014, it's already been 8 years now. CP 8249 idles away tied onto the Credit Valley Explorer at Orangeville, ready for the trip south to Snelgrove and back. Fast forward to this year, the yard and mainline have now been ripped up and the only track that remains is the station track the train is occupying.

A heritage yard set is in the middle of switching out Imperial Oil along Metrolinx's Newmarket Subdivision, the sunlight from a brief sucker hole illuminates how much grime has accumulated on the GP40-3 during it's first year and a half at Mac Yard in yard and industrial switching.

Abandoned and pulled up, engineering crews are in the middle of tearing up the old mainline to Owen Sound on what used to be Mile 35.37 of the former CPR Owen Sound Subdivision. The northern part of the line from Orangeville to Owen Sound didn't last as long as the southern part did with what little customers (and abandonment of the branches like the Teeswater, Walkerton Subs between Orangeville and Owen Sound) were left along the line and constant drift busting in the winter time with the plows, the north end succumbed to abandonment in late 1995 but the south end from Orangeville to Mile 2.4 at Streetsville still prospered till late 2021. So here we are in the year 2022 with rising oil prices and businesses trying to find alternative transportation methods to ship products by rail, the short sightedness along with the anti-rail mentality of the mayor and council will rear it's ugly head to the Town of Orangeville in the distant future.

Not often does GO Transit run equipment trains at this length (L21), but with the pandemic loads of bilevels were stored through out the GO Transit network from the start of 2020 onward. The morning equipment train to Willowbrook which handled a 23 car consist with 668 solo is running is now back from Willowbrook in Toronto to Lewis Yard off the CN Grimsby Sub with an old school cabcar leader and 668 once again pushing hard on the rear as the train rolls through Oakville GO Station.
