Via GMD F40PH 6408 leads a westbound past the station in Gananoque, Ontario, in July of 2004. This unit later was given a Spiderman livery. A recent (2023) Google Maps view shows that the big old tree on the north (left) side of the tracks is not looking so great.

Via RDC 6207 is seen at the west end of Toronto Union Station in July of 1982. The gold-colored Royal Bank Tower is seen in the background across the street. The twin towers have real 24 karat gold in the windows, hence the gold color.

One of the many S-13 switchers that were constantly moving passenger equipment around the Union Station complex is shown parked at the diesel terminal in August of 1983. In addition to the CN 8522 shown here, there was quite a collection of whatnot on hand at the engine house.

Toronto Union Station has plenty of passenger action, but on a hot hazy day in August of 1983, CP switcher 1244 passed by the south side of the station with a yard job, including old timer boxcar CP 59070. The internet claims that the unit had been rebuilt in 1982.

This view looks east towards the west end of Toronto Union Station in August of 1985 - what a puzzle of tracks indeed. Two of the then ubiquitous S-13 switchers are hard at work bringing passenger equipment to and from the coach yards to Union Station. Note the signs on the right for the CN Tower and the "Top of Toronto." The restaurant name was changed to the "360 Restaurant" a decade later in April of 1995. All of this area has been completely changed.

Just after arriving at Montmorency Falls, PQ, on a school trip, a westbound freight train passed the falls in May of 1982. CN caboose 79821 brought up the rear. I waited by the tracks for another train and did not go in to see the falls. Alas, I did not realize that this line, the Murray Bay Sub, was not a CN mainline. There is a tourist train there now - I should go back and see the falls.

Those Via MLW FPA-4s were a staple at Toronto Union Station for many years. The 6793 is seen here awaiting assignment in July of 1982. I am still amazed that we could sign a release and go all over the facility in those "good old days!"

CP 8143 - GMD SW-1200RS end cab switcher is seen at Agincourt Yard in August of 1983 - it was built in 1959. End cab switchers were common at one time - not anymore!
