The Havelock train exits the bridge over the Otonobee river. My childhood train trips on the Dayliner to Toronto began from this photo location at the still standing station. London and Port Stanley #4 was one of several pieces of equipment incorporated in to the Ossawippi Express restaurant In Orillia. After the restaurant closed in 2009 the equipment sat for a while. One car was moved to the Toronto Railway Museum. Four cars were moved to Port McNicoll adjacent to the Keewatin museum ship but were later scrapped. Thankfully L&PS #4 is now part of the Halton County Radial Railway Museum. Getting a photo was a challenge with the plants and clutter but I thought it would be a shame to to let that headlight go unrecorded.

The York-Durham train has stopped for its layover prior to returning to Uxbridge. I was doing the engineer for a day program and had a great time. Seeing grade crossings from an engineers perspective was a real eye opener.

In my working days, construction site visits gave me the opportunity to do some railfanning in places I wouldn't normally get to. While I would take the direct route to get to the meeting, I usually took the scenic route home. Here we see CN 6167 looking pretty rough sitting on the north side of the tracks near the Guelph train station. The engine was cosmetically restored around 2010 and moved to the south side of the tracks. In 2020 it was moved again to John Galt park. My previous encounter with this engine was a glimpse from the window of an excursion being pulled by 4-8-4 #6218 in 1968.

The Havelock train slowly crosses the multiple bridges over the Otonobee River. Peterborough has a 10 mph no whistle restriction within the city limits. If you see a headlight in the distance, you'll have lots of time to get set up.

The Holiday Train lays out some exhaust as it accelerates out of Midhurst after a brief stop. A few fans can be seen just to the left of the signal. So far the Barrie area has been spared from the snow, but in another 5 miles the train will be in to it.

The Monday train approaches Patterson Road in Barrie. Its hard to beat a 66 year old good looking high hood GP-9. Before Cando took over the Meaford and Beeton subdivisions the last high hood I saw in Barrie was CN 4385 back in 1988.

Returning to Utopia with three cars, 1001 passes the ever expanding Decast plant. Decast manufactures all kinds of concrete infrastructure items such as sewer pipe, culverts, tunnel segments and bridge girders. In my working days I prepared architectural drawings for several additions for this plant. Development fees for new buildings in Essa Township are huge but don't apply to additions, so the question was always "Which direction are we expanding in this time?"
