A northbound intermodal crosses Highway 26. CP recently rebuilt this road crossing. For about a week there was a nasty bump in the road as the rails were a couple of inches higher with a short ramp up. The approaches have been re-paved so things are smoother now.

The Santa train shas just returned to the Orangeville station with the RDC-9 acting as a control cab for the back-up move. This train was a surprise as I was out on a birthday road trip with my son and didn't know OBRY was running these trains. Needless to say we stopped and got some photos.

After arriving on the Orangeville-Brampton Railway in battered VIA paint and sitting for a while, the RDC-9 has had the ends repainted in grey and a Credit Valley Explorer logo added. Ditch lights have also been added for use as a cab car.

A shot of the Medonte station taken from the vestibule of a CN coach on a UCRS excursion to Midland. The operator appears to have finished inspecting the train. The excursion ran up CP's Mactier sub to Medonte, transferred to CN's Midland sub via a short piece of the Port McNicoll sub and the shoofly connection in Coldwater. Return to Toronto was via CN's Newmarket sub. Photo by my brother.

With a brakeman riding the rear, a pair of SW1200RS units take a few cars around the newly completed diversion track between the CNR Coldwater spur and the remnant of the CPR Port McNicoll subdivision. This connecting track permitted CP to reach the CNR Midland sub at Coldwater when the large Hoggs Bay trestle was abandoned in 1971. A similar connecting track was built between McMillan on the Midland sub and the yard at Port. Prior to this CP had an interlocked diamond crossing of the CN spur. CP used trackage rights on CN to reach McMillan until 1991 when the Port McNicol sub was abandoned. The diamond remained in place for several years until the unused rails were lifted between this point and the trestle. The connecting track originally dipped south of the existing track before connecting to the existing track near the bridge over the Coldwater river. The connecting track was later reconfigured to a more conventional turn in the 1980's due to difficulties with long trains. Six axle units were prohibited on this later track arrangement. Our family rode a UCRS excursion to Midland that went through this trackage in 1975. It was an interesting sight watching the 80 foot long coaches negotiate the shoofly. Visible in the background is the CPR Coldwater station with some work service cars in the siding. Between the bridge and flanger sign is visible one of the ancient crossing signs with a danger light on top of the post. This signal is now displayed at the Coldwater Museum. The Havelock train exits the bridge over the Otonobee river. My childhood train trips on the Dayliner to Toronto began from this photo location at the still standing station. London and Port Stanley #4 was one of several pieces of equipment incorporated in to the Ossawippi Express restaurant In Orillia. After the restaurant closed in 2009 the equipment sat for a while. One car was moved to the Toronto Railway Museum. Four cars were moved to Port McNicoll adjacent to the Keewatin museum ship but were later scrapped. Thankfully L&PS #4 is now part of the Halton County Radial Railway Museum. Getting a photo was a challenge with the plants and clutter but I thought it would be a shame to to let that headlight go unrecorded.
