Sartigan's pair of ex-CP MLW RS18us lead the southbound train to Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon, where they will park the engines for the night. One of the 2 RS18s, CFS 1801, was recently purchased from the Ontario Southland Railway, where it formerly was OSR 182. All the cars pulled by the locomotives were headed to the transload facilities in St-Lambert, hence why they didn't run all the way to Scott that day.

VIA P42DC #915, one of the few remaining P42s in its original 'renaissance' livery, trails on the tail end of train 624 as it passes under the overpass of Route Germain, near St-Nicolas. This overpass is often dubbed the ''viaduc fantôme'', i think this nickname describes the unfinished overpass near Bagotville better... On the head end of that train was F40PH-2 6443, also in the same livery as the P42.

CN Switcher YRP003 heads back to Rivière-des-Prairies with about 8 boxcars in tow and a rather ratty GTW GP38-2 locomotive to pull them, as it passes by the former Dickson incinerator, now abandoned for nearly 50 years, located on the street bearing the same name.

CN 402 crosses the bridge over the Rimouski river with SD75IACC #8357 in trail, a locomotive specially painted for suicide prevention. In the foreground is the sculpture titled La Rencontre Sous-marine, by local artist Roger Langevin. The bridge over the river was first built by the Intercolonial railway in the early 1870s, the girders were later replaced in the early 20th century.

Fresh SD75IACC #8308 leads a very short train 562 in the small town of Saint-Noel, as it heads to Campbellton where hopefully they will take a longer train down to Mont-Joli. The weather that day wasn't perfect, being very foggy, but the power made it worth the trip. I also could hear the old crossing bell's one last time before they replaced it moments later, CN are saddly replacing them with electronic ones regardless if they are in working condition or not.

CN local train 559 waits in L'Isle-Verte siding for train 402 to clear, minutes after completing its work at April Lubricants, hidden by 402 in the background. Today, these meets doesn't happen anymore, as 402 doesn't run daily anymore, and train 559 is almost always sent on days which the mainline freights doesn't run. CN 4732 has also since been modernized with an electronic bell and an ekyrail A/C unit.

AC44CW #420 leads a loaded Bloom Lake ore train at Milepost 9 of the Wacouna Subdivision, it will interchange with the Arnaud railway just south of here, at Arnaud Jonction. With all the QNSL Dash 9s now retired and the SD40-3s being on switching and wayfreight duties, the AC44CWs such as this one are now the oldest active mainline power on the railway.

A northbound work train led by GP9 5138 and a singular railcar crosses Route 138, the only public railroad crossing on the railway. I do not know what is the purpose of the car trailing behind the locomotive, although it seems it was rebuilt from an old 52' bulkhead flatcar. Moments earlier, a specialy built ambulance equiped with steel wheels and fully functionnal lightbars had just came down the line towards Havre-Saint-Pierre, i wish i had thought of taking a picture of that thing! Although if you want to check it out for yourself, you can search for ''Ambulance ferroviaire'' on Google Images, where you should be able to find a picture of it taken from Demers Ambulances website.

A rare sight since the COVID-19 pandemic but a relatively common one before then, a 4-axle CN locomotive leading the ''big'' freight, train 403. It seems like Joffre yard must have been short of big high-horsepower locomotives to send on train 402 last thursday, as they sent ET44AC 3165 paired with GP40-2WL 9576, the later which will lead the return trip to Joffre as seen here. Today the train was relatively short, with only stock comming from the Matane subdivision, as the train to Campbellton didn't run the previous day. They ended up not making the full trip to Joffre, heading back to Mont-Joli engine light as Joffre did not send a 402 to meet up in Rivière-du-Loup.

Locomotives 65, PRLX 2270 and 63 switches the alumina hopper cars at the Laterrière aluminium smelter. The Roberval & Saguenay railway services this plant along with the Grande Baie one up to 3 times a day.

Roberval & Saguenay GP38-2 64, a former CN GP40 rebuilt by AMF in the 1990s leads the mainline train running between Arvida and Port-Alfred. Over the train stands a ''ghost'' freeway viaduct, built for the upcoming extension of the Autoroute 70 between the Bagotville base and the R-170 - R-381 junction.

BC Rail Dash 9-44CW #4653 leads train 403 at the Route 132 overpass in Bic on a wonderful but cold Patriots Day. BCOL 4653 is the first BC Rail locomotive this year to roam the Mont-Joli subdivision, they are far less common since the Dash 8 locomotives were retired... Trailing mid-consist was a set of about a dozen former BC Rail woodchip gondolas recently acquired by the Gaspésie Railway. They were the first loads of woodchips to come through in about a year, although they weren't headed for Rivière-du-Loup this time... I am not sure who is the new customer that recieves these loads. New traffic sure is welcome!

What i believe to be intermodal train number 120 is entering the town of Saint-Pascal, on its way to the port of Halifax. The power that evening was nothing out of the ordinary, maybe aside for a former Citirail ES44AC trailing in 3rd position. CN had just purchased these locomotives at the time, i believe it was my first time seeing them under their new ownership.

SFG Train 566 manually protects the crossing of Route 132, as they depart from Port-Daniel towards New Richmond with a few loads of cement. The railway had been only reopened almost 2 months prior.

IC 9639 and CN 4901 brings up a long train 559 to Rivière-du-Loup, the train had around 30 cars in tow, some of which were cars they picked up in Matane earlier in the day. IC 9639 is the first Illinois Central engine to be assigned to the Mont-Joli switcher, and the first one not to be an SD70 to roam the Mont-Joli subdivision. It is pretty remarkable to think it had not happened in the 18 years of previous CN ownership of the railway...

Train 403 fills up with diesel fuel before departing Mont-Joli for Joffre (Charny, QC), the locomotive, an early batch of SD70m-2, is nearing 20 years of age. Hard to believe they have been around for that long already... Especially with such clean paint.

A nice SD75i leads saturday's 403 at the pedestrian crossing located in front of the university of Rimouski, standing at almost exactly milepost 123. Despite being in working order, the old mechanical bells have been sadly recently replaced at this crossing.

After taking a few pictures of broken down 4789 the evening prior, i decided to head back the following day to check if the engine was still there, and lo and behold, it was! This time, i was able to snap a pic with train 402 passing by, as there was just enough lighting left to do so.
