Posed for display in Montreal from September 30 – October 4, 1949, the <a href=https://www.themetrains.com/gm-train-of-tomorrow-main.htm>General Motors “Train of Tomorrow.” </a> Consisting of E7A, GM 765, and 4 dome cars built by Pullman-Standard, the train toured the USA and Canada from 1947 – 1949, showcasing a new concept of rail travel with the new domes. Post tour, the equipment was later sold to the Union Pacific. CNR 7913, and EMD NW2 built in 1941, can be seen at left.<br><br>During the tour, lasting from May 1947 – October 1949, the train is noted as being in Canada on three occasions. On display at the CNE in Toronto from September 2-6, 1947, with a stop in St. Catharine’s on September 7, passing through on the CASO, from Windsor – Fort Erie on January 17, 1948, and a longer tour through Ontario and Quebec from September 22 – October 28, 1949. Stops included London, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Oshawa, Toronto, Hamilton, St. Catharines, Stratford, Chatham, and Windsor.<br><br><i>James H.
