Red Barn, one of the original Dash 2's and the ill fated Detroit-Toronto section of the Expressway. These days, the remaining Red Barns are on their last legs, early Dash 2's become rebuild fodder, and the Expressway, well, on this end of the railroad, its long gone.......

Once this was common, usually in smaller batches. CP 9546 West, at East Siding Switch Lobo, makes a run to Detroit, with 5 Union Pacific SD70M's. These for the longest time were just about as common as the regular power that ran the trains. Mainly because this order itself was so massive. It showed the quality of the work, alas, now, seeing this is only a memory.

A day at a southwestern Ontario hotspot postponed. A day at Denfield Sideroad cut short, a drive was in order. Rumors abounded about the arrival of an F unit on the Goderich-Exeter. Once these lines were a staple of such units, being in the snow belt. So avoid CN, CP, and Via for the day. Luck would be on our side, first place we stop, we hear 567's. RLK 4001 was well known, as the power came into sight. A cowl carbody. A day full of mainline can't beat this. Ironically, I saw the F in North Bay before it was shopped by Ontario Northland. It went west, came to Goderich-Exeter. Now her and her sister, are in Salford, less than 15 minutes away from my home, awaiting their rebuild at their new home.

While all the interest earlier this year, had the light on the CASO's final days as the rail was removed. In 2002, silently reality slipped away from the once great speedway's east end. Admittedly, without a lot of hype or fanfare.

Used for the longest time, to store NCIX plastic pellet hoppers, the time had come. The final run to grab the hoppers so the rail could be removed. This was the run, a gloomy April day, no railfan hype, no fanfare. Just 2 CN GP's and a string of those hoppers. Appropriately 9606's class lights are on, normally for the end of a train, this time, the beginning of the end for the once great Canada Southern.
