The first of many to come G&W painted GEXR units. GEXR 3030 sits fresh out of the paint and finishing booth at LDS, the unit being ex-RMPX 9431, nee-CN 9431. This is probably the nicest scheme around on GEXR since start up in the matching green and cream way back in the 90's. Can't wait to see more units painted up like this up and around Goderich.

Now with his dozen grain cars and shoving home we see 2574 on the tail end of his train shoving the 20 odd kilometers back to Sombra where he will be able to run around his train. Due to a derailment the day before, the siding in Wallaceburg was put out of service. Although the crew was none to happy about this long shove home, it topped off the last CSX mainline run for not only us but the old employees who fondly remember such a thing back in the days of cabooses. Friends, family and fellow railfans were all out to see this historic last run of the line and what a way to end an era of mainline action for CSX here in Southwestern Ontario.

CSX Southwestern Ontario districts last mainline run on the original subdivision two (Sarnia Sub) to Wallaceburg. The line has been around and in use since the early 1900's by Pere Marquette followed by the take over of C&O and finally CSX. Seen here at the Wallaceburg Bridge is the last run from Sarnia to Wallaceburg and return on the OCS/ABS Sarnia Sub mainline with CSX GP38-2 #2574 as the power followed by CSX Caboose (shoving platform) #900074. Due to a derailment the day before and no way to run around the train here at Wallaceburg the crew was forced to bring along the caboose to use as a shoving platform. This topped off the last train like no other, mainline service with a caboose in 2013! Railfans, employees and fellow friends were out in numbers for this sad but special occasion with a solid goodbye to the line and employees who worked it. Many friends and people who worked the line are now without their jobs. A sad day indeed and a end of an era for the C&O er CSX here in Southwestern Ontario!

These fading relics are just a few of many that remain along this ancient C&O line. With CSX running it's last mainline train today one has to ask himself how long will these little relics remain on the line? With the rich C&O history of line that CSX has left behind one must stop and take joy in the little things like this sign and logo. It's been well over 10 years or more since St. Thomas last saw a CSX train let alone one under the name C&O. Makes you wonder how long that number was actually in service for and how long that sign has stood or will stand!

One of LDS' new units, 4143 has seen better days. Apparently the unit went for a bit of a ride into a creek down Moncton way before she was pulled out and sat for a year or two in the yard unused. LDS should have this thing up and running in no time at all along with Cando's new unit 4118.

The Terra/Industrial is on the move out of Sarnia. Seen here just after crossing Highway 40/Churchill Road and entering the local indian reserve. The two local GMD1's have been switched around and 1437 now has the lead of this interesting lash-up today.

CN 5343 and LDSX 1359 sit inside the LDS round house today. CN 5343 is in for a replacement cab after an accident with a coal chute out west and LDS 1359 is in for paint, renumbering after being completely bead blasted and primered.

CN 5343 is now without it's top half of a cab. LDS has been quick removing the damaged part of the cab and cleaning it up. Fabrication has already started on a new top half, and the SD40-2W should be back out on the open rails in no time. Also of note is NCLX 902 in the back ground completely in primer.
