It's December 2014 in Schreiber ON. While the CPRail Holiday train entertains the residents I wander over to the station which serves as the crew change point and formerlly contained the dispatchers. A westbound intermodal train wanders in from the east and changes crews in a heavy storm. Then the engines wind up and the train leaves for Thunder Bay.

Three big MLW's descend the grade from Glacier towards Revelstoke. The follow the Illcilewat River as it twists and turns through the Selkirk.

The Canadian pauses under the Calgary Tower. On the left the CP's flagship hotel in Calgary, the Palliser can be seen. Now there are no passenger trains in Calgary and CP hotels are branded the faceless Fairmont name.

This is a second try to post this picture properly. In the Selkirks a loaded and empty coal train meet. As usual the MLW's are smoking it up. Note the crewmen walking towards the highway. They probably ran out of time and are being relieved.

Deep in the Albert Canyon a westbound grain train with narrow door box cars meets a train of empty bathtub coal cars alongside the Illecillewaet River. Three big MLW's lead the train with the third unit in CP's original diesel paint scheme which is being superseded by action red. I believe that much of this territory is now double track as a result of CP's capacity expansion program. While this view can still be seen from the Trans Canada Highway only the lucky few riding the Rocky Mountaineer can see this by rail.

An MLW idles adjacent to the Revelstoke BC station during a crew change. Meanwhile a GP works the rear of an eastbound. Note the office car on the track to the left. The station accommodated dispatchers and still served CP's Canadian.
