One of the few remaining GP38s in Soo colours made its way up to Ontario late last year. I was able to catch it multiple times, but this tops them all. Three geeps head back to Lambton after dropping off a TTC streetcar at Hillcrest.

Via 1 lead by an F40ph-2D kicks up lots of snow as he flies up the newmarket subdivision where it will stop and back up onto the cn york subdivision and finally head north on the Bala subdivision. I was actually on the canadian twice. My first trip was from Toronto to Vancouver, it was not disappointing at all. Great food, great staff, great passengers, and magnificent views. I was lucky enough to win this trip off of a silent auction and got the tickets for half price both ways. We stopped in many different towns/ city’s like Perry sound, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Jasper, and finally Vancouver. There was lots of site seeing, so i had to wake up early not to miss anything special. Lots of wildlife out by the rails as well. I met a via engineer on the train and was lucky enough to have dinner with him. He talked about his life on the rails and gave me a via rail keychain. He told me it’s always better to work for passenger rail companies then freight companies because you the times when you’re going to work as suppose to being called in at anything time of the day/ night. Definitely a trip i’d highly recommend everyone to take. You won’t be disappointed.
