On May 5, 2024, the TH&B Historical Society departed from the Waterloo Central Farmer's Market Station in St. Jacobs at 1:00pm for a train ride to Elmira. We had two run pasts on the return trip just south of Elmira. Arriving at the Waterloo Central shops, we all detrained for a presentation by the general manager Bob Fallowfield on the operations and future plans for the railroad. Coffee and doughnuts were supplied by the TH&B Historical Society. Hats, shirts and memorabilia were on sale and a raffle was held for various items. Proceeds from the member donations was presented to the Waterloo Central in thanks for their hospitality. A group photo was taken with a TH&B caboose as the backdrop. All aboard again to return to the Farmers Market Station for 4:00pm.

CP 7014 in Script Heritage paint passes the Main St. interlocking at MP 58.9 of the Hamilton Sub. No sun at this location but was for the best as the trees cast shadows on the train as the sun appeared a couple of minutes after the picture was taken. Picture taken from the Dundurn St. bridge.

<B>Never seen one of these before! </B> A young boy looks on as CN 6218 passes by on her own. I believe she was heading for a location to turn the engine. This photo is circa 1965. Any help with the location and date would be appreciated. Might be Stratford as the next pictures that I took were in Brantford.

Passenger service on the Galt Sub with an E8? Well, not really. This was a fan trip that originated at the Hunter St. station in Hamilton. If I remember correctly, we ran up what is now the Hamilton Sub. to Guelph Jct. then turned east on the Galt Sub. The runpast location is near Kelso park. Hwy 401 can be seen in the background.

When was the last time you saw a pair of RS-3's on the transfer from Buffalo to Fort Erie? For me, it was in Sept 1968 just west of the Central Avenue bridge which has been replaced with a concrete structure. I am looking at the autos and think they might be 1969 Mercury Marquis Broughams. There is also a fallen flag on the Erie box car.

A pair of NYC GP-40's 3062-3091 and a CB&Q GP-40 are on NY4 near Clanbrassil, ON. The stock cars on the head end are the identifying feature for NY4. Geolocation coordinates are in the area of the photograph.

Ready for the call to duty, CN 5061-5045 await an assignment at Fort Erie, ON. Less than a year old, these SD-40's have accumulated enough grime to look older than their age.

NYC 7440 is at the work site cleaning up a derailment on the CASO Sub. near Townline Road. A new track panel is being moved into position to replace the south track which got ripped up when about 15 cars derailed.

Notice in this picture class leader MLW FA-1 CN 9400 which has been preserved at the Canadian Railway Museum at St. Constant. The trailing unit is CN 6805 which has been relegated to freight service as she finishes out her final days of service. Also getting rare by this time is the CN reefer painted in gray and Burlington Route high cube car.

Half of the Tempo units are at Spadina in this 1968 view. A total of six RS-18's were rebuilt for Tempo service and equipped with HEP. Hawker-Siddley built 25 cars for the Tempo service. CN ran 4 trains per day from Toronto to Windsor and one train per day from Toronto to Sarnia. When CN rebuilt these units, they were painted in the green and gold scheme and operated in regular service for some time before being repainted into Tempo colours. <B>All Aboard!</b> The crew is onboard, the white flags are flying and we are ready to go. Quite the mix of power for CN with 9428-3005-6805 with orange Santa Fe refrigerators on the head end. I photographed this power set being prepared on the ready tracks earlier on at what is now MacMillan Yard. The power moved from the ready tracks to the departure yard where this picture was taken. The geotagging may not be exact as I do not remember exactly where I was located for this shot.

Here are all three of the NYC 7400's that normally haunted the Starlight or Kinnear. We have 7430-7429-7431 easbound at Aldershot East in the best order with 7430 leading with "New York Central" on the long hood. Meanwhile, a pair of CN MLW RS-18's switch Aldershot Yard.

<b> Old meets new. </b> It is spring of 1968 and CN 4593 west meets SD-40's CN 5047-5046 east at the Plains Rd. bridge. Looks like auto parts on the head end possibly destined for Ford in Oakville.

CN 1904 with the Niagara Falls train passing the Hamilton Yard sign on a different day to <a href="http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=35468"> CN 1904 with TH&B 72 </a> but with the same engineer at the throttle.

TH&B 72 holds for a light while the Niagara Falls train passes. Once the Niagara Falls train has cleared Hamilton Jct., TH&B 72 will cross over and pass under the High Level bridge (now the Thomas B. McQueston Bridge) and make its way to Aberdeen Yard. It is 1968 and automobiles traversed the iron bridge that was replaced later by a concrete footbridge for access to the Laking Garden of the Royal Botanical Gardens. The old Plains Rd. bridge can also be seen in the background.

At the sand towers in Agincourt Yard, CP 8541 is teamed up with a GP9. Back in the days when you could drive into the yard and not be bothered by anyone.
