		<description>This  type of crossing was common on branchlines in Ontario, so I assume in other parts of Canada too.  All trains were required to stop before crossing the diamond, a crew member was supposed to walk up to the diamond &amp; give the engineer a signal to proceed. In practice, we often just stopped &amp; looked and then proceeded. There was no one other than train crews involved.</description>
