CP has agreed to purchase KCS and the deal has not yet passed regulatory scrutiny so it has not closed.

These are not KCS units, they are owned by Progress Rail as KCS gave them back prior to the merger agreement. As Joe said they were given to CP for warranty coverage for the reliability issues for the CP 7000's', however, the ex KCS SD70's too were not used very much by CP and it appears they're going to a shop for modifications.

They WERE used a few times last summer but quickly parked.

The question remains are they still on lease/loan to CP or are they going to the shop before they head to someone else.

If they are being modified the same as the 7000's it's entirely possible they're all part of the CP program, since a half dozen 7000's are also at Amp Dansville for truck modifications to improve ride quality according to one source.
