UP was first with heritage units of the class 1’s. They did hybrid schemes of lines that they control.

NS did theirs based on original paint schemes and diagrams.

Railfan rumours are the worst. Nothing is happening to the CP military or heritage units. They all got a nice wash prior to November 11. That is all.

Brad, I think NS was first, and then I remember seeing BNSF units in AT&SF “War Bonnet” paint a good number of years ago in San Bernardino CA. And of course UP “Armour Yellow” has always been around. But you are correct, to me NS was the first to roll out commemorative heritage paint schemes. John

@ hi railwayguy, yes and also CP’s military schemes have been fun to watch. Which Rail fans here in Toronto are saying are all being sent back to Calgary for a repaint ‘adjustment’? But rumoured. Another topic for another great photo. CN defo made up for the lame 100 Year re-patch.

Hi Brad, my friends in the Buffalo area (we all belong to NRHS NFT Chapter, have my 25 year pin) were all excited about the NS heritage painted units, sent me lots of pictures, then they got excited about CP heritage schemes, again pictures in the Niagara Frontier, and now going crazy over the newly released CN heritage painted units – certainly makes for much more interesting photography, train chasing and watching. NS 8102 and NS 1071 were also in the area that I recall; 8102 (PRR heritage unit) was on a CN in early 2015, and 1071 (CNJ) was on CP 244 in March 2018, much like the one pictured!

8105 is the “Interstate” one. 8101 is the Central of Georgia, which made a run through the area on CN late in 2014

Very nice James, don’t tell me the 3/4 wedge shot is passé, very well composed ! With all the different railway company heritage paint schemes, sometimes hard to keep track of them – is NS 8105 the Central of Georgia paint scheme ? Thanks for posting, John
