I hope that position will be open when I can get a career, I would put such a great lash-up on some trains, well if those units are available, If I will have a sd40-2w available I will not hesitate to put it on the lead, well I will just keep hoping but that will probably never happen

@CNSD60F…there is a department that picks the motive power for the train. In the old days before HPT (horsepower per ton) railroads would just trhow whatever they had on a train. These days its an combination of the transportation dept and the motive power dept to get the right engines for the train. That is determined by what units are available at the ordering time of the train and the make up..ie weight of the train.

My question is, who does pick and choose the power? I would love that job! and yup 900 and 902 are repainted and look beautiful in my opinion! nice to see some tunnel motors being taken care of and not, laying in a yard rusting to death. But yes I love emd/gmd too but some models more than others, and how are the old CN Widecabs like after all these years? I have seen pics and they look quite nice

I have never been a GE fan and am an EMD guy all the way..except my love for Alco cab units and the big Alco road power.
If the crew wants AC they can get GEVO’s?
Sorry my friend, but the crew does not get to pick and choose their power.
The cabs in the GEVO’s are good. Its older GE’s that are terrible. Yes even the recently rebuild ex CNW/UP stuff.
CN had already painted some ex BLE tunnel motors, but very doubtful they will be painting more. If you want to see some i suggest a road trip?

Like ET44ACs? LOL

I really hate those ET44ACs it’s getting really bad now, if the crew wants air conditioning they can have older units like good GEVOs (teardrop ES44DCs) but I heard the cabs of those arent in the best shape :/ I just hope to see something like a CN Paint BLE Tunnel motor soon enough

I do not like them at all..they are cramped, noisy, cold in the winter and have a terrible ride. The only good thing is the AC for the hot summer days

well you catch a sucky 435 and you catch a BEAUTY 394! apparently 394 is having good power recently as recently there was reported a bcol c40-8m leader! Too bad i have not seen a cn c40-8 standard cab lead yet
