Comments on: 4436km to Montreal and only 202km from Vancouver states the Boston Bar sign. Boston Bar was, still is, a big deal for me. As a kid, on summer train trips to the coast, when you stopped in Boston Bar, you knew it was not much longer to Vancouver. When I was older, we took camping trips to the coast and still my Dad would stop in to watch trains at Boston Bar. Besides the many other various spots on the way. Although my Dad spent his life working at CN, he never tired of watching rail action either. Here in 1986, and other times I stopped in through the 80′s, wandering around taking photo’s was no big deal. Keeping clear of the tracks and equipment usually allowed the taking of a number of photo’s without bother.

If it’s been moved back instead of torn down, that could indicate a future restoration or ..? Heading that way tomorrow and will make an effort to get permission to photograph it from a decent point of view. Thanks for your input DaveA.

I was there last week and sad to see the station in pretty bad shape now. It’s been moved back from the tracks and while it looked like some work was done on it years ago, it’s slowly falling apart now.

Yes – many changes. Directional running has a rather negative affect on lighting. Security has tightened as well. Although not out of bounds, I was under a great deal of scrutiny while shooting the 2511. Not complaining – I fully understand their concerns. Still a great pastime with limitless possibilities:)

Thanks Joe. Your comment on the 2511 got me searching last night and I found this. If you can manage a photo sometime in the future, I will certainly be interested in seeing it. I’m betting things have changed quite a bit since the directional change of running CN and CP trains in the canyon.
