Comments on: A CN 0-6-0 from the contact prints taken by my Dad. A short look turned up a few facts on these switchers. They were built for Canadian Northern by CLC between the dates of 1912 and 1914 (number series 7031 to 7065 [from CNRHA]). The 7055 is shown retired in Sept. of 1950 (Trainweb.org). This last fact helps to date this picture. As can be seen, the main rods are missing and the 7055 is in a rather run down state. Scrapping must not be be long in the future at the time this photo was taken. Location is unknown.

The actual photos are 38mm x 61mm B&W positives on white print paper (there is a half inch white border around the 38×61 picture), just like a contact print of the negative. I’ve amazed myself how much my setup gets out these little photos. If the next one makes it through moderation, that will be about it. The rest are too underexposed or have blurr.
At Steamer – that is an excellent possibility. It would certainly explain much of the damage. That’s a white knuckle walkway now.

Looks to me that she was involved in a roll over at some time. If you look closly you’ll see the piston rod and the crosshead are bent down at an angle, the running boards are just about ripped off and the cab is split wide open on the front corner. Probably too much damage at that time to make repairs. Cheers.
