Comments on: A couple of years ago I posted a shot of CP St. Marys with CP 8147 laying over. This image, taken 4 years after the last, is worthy of offering due to the fresh snow and sunshine over the quaint building. This is the sort scene one just does not see any more. Such is progress. :o( The St. Marys sub, from a connection to the GALT sub at Zorra has been taken up.

A photo of yours I had not seen before, and its an old station long gone no less! St. Mary's is a wonderful town full of historic buildings and very picturesque with or without snow....this is a beautiful wintry scene. Too bad about 'progress' though.....thoughts of reuse could be a Chamber of Commerce office, Art Gallery, Tourist Information office, etc. But I guess back then these weren't possibly considered.

Thanks, Jacob. Good of you to keep alert to this sort of thing. Many farms have old RR structures for implement sheds and the like.

After coming across some archives apparently when the station came down in 1980, some of it went to the Wellburn area for use as a drive shed on a farm.

Thanks Jacob. I was in St. Marys last fall, didn't see the station, but it could have been moved as many have. Disappointing that it is gone.

Demolished in the '80's. Now an empty field/lot. When my relatives lived in St. Mary's prior to '65 my uncles would hop the CP freight back into town when they went fishing. Another hangout was just upstream on the Sarnia bridge (Forrest sub bridge). When fishing (or swimming/diving) from the bridge if a train came try's climb over the side onto the limestone pillars.
