Comments on: A FAMILY AFFAIR – Traditions never die! It’s amazing being a parent – especially of those memories that come back to you when you experience the wave from an engineer of a passing train, along with a couple of short toots on the horn as it glides by. My grandfather taught me of his love of trains, and I now get to share that with my daughter. But it doesn’t just end there. I dedicate this photo to the dad’s that work the long hours, as the engineer’s of the road. And as mentioned already, to the grandafther’s who have passed on their love of the railroad to their children, and continued the tradition with their grandchildren. And to the men who work for the railroad today, providing for your own families and creating new memories for kids of all ages. This photo is for you Dads – as I thank you all for taking the time to acknowledge us fans as you pass by. Happy Father’s Day too! You have helped make new memories for me and my daughter. Side note: I had photographed 904 before outside of Paris just over a year ago. It was also a special moment then as it was Dale Pringle’s last run.

It’s a new found angle for me too Bruce! LOL… Oddly enough, I wanted to shoot an eastbound an hour earlier than this train! But, I think why we all want to shoot the eastbounds is because of the “Chatham East” bridge over MacGregor Creek. I think with the siding (just visible in the long grass), and the old loading dock…shooting westboounds is just as photogenic

All the times I stood at Sass Road and only shot eastbounds; I never would have thought the lighting was this beneficial from “the other side”
