Comments on: A gray sunny day. Mid-October days along the curve at mile 2 Dundas (just off York Rd) were to me a great experience. There was a brief period around that time, due to CN shoring up the banks there, that the area was devoid of vegetation and a great shooting angle had opened up. And the maples were ablaze. This was one of those perfect mornings. And along comes #148 !! All Gray!!! Most unusual. Leaser CEFX 3105 was sandwiched between two SD40-3s, remanufactured (1998) former GCFX locomotives that began lives as CN SD40s. This location is now pretty much overgrown and photography is very limited, as one would have to stand far too close to the rail than is safe. Image shot with Mamiya 645 400ISO neg. Sun angle past 1030 here becomes dicey for eastbounds such as this.

Yeah, Glenn, there was about 3 years and then it became overgrown again. I did a considerable amount of "brush-cutting" but it all was in vain. Fast growing thorn bushes on the sheer drop off were too hard to get at, and I got scratched up for my efforts and finally gave up. Worse, the damn things stayed green and ruined the 'fall colour' effect in the foreground. Fun while it lasted.

Honestly, I find this picture quite spectacular. The colours and the train work together very well. The photo does not require any extra colour from the audience. There, I put my pencil crayons away. :-)
