Comments on: A little bit of spring – L524 arrives from London with a cut of manifest freight, tanks on the head up and one of the ex ATSF Warbonnet C40-8W’s in the lead. Note for those who visit the berm, watch out for ticks – they are strong this year. You are being severely warned, DEET will be your friend and long pants. No shorts. Sadly I have my doubts it will ever get better…

Nice shot with the flowers Stephen. Sorry to hear about the ticks on the berm. I will do my best to send some sparks over that way the next time I go by and burn those pesky insects off the berm.

Last year I was attempting to get a picture of a SOO SD60 in Welland Yard in the middle of the night. I couldn't see very well, and ended up falling right down into the creek next to the road. I had to pick a burs off one of my socks, and that was not the only thing latched to it. Luckily the tick didn't pierce through my sock, and I pulled it off with a small hedge clipper I had with me. Controlled burns are the way to go in my opinion. The smoke is not toxic, and actually gives other plants nutrients. People may not like it, but I'd prefer that than poisonous weeds and insects. In dense populated areas, just use weed spray. Of course the Ontario government banned the sale of it because of 'toxins.'
