The pile of gravel in the background is from the quarry that lies to the right of the tracks. It is still an ongoing business, where they blast the granitic bedrock and run the loosened material through crushers. The track to the left serves a cement plant. It is still a source of rail traffic today. CN location is Bedford Quarry, which is at the top of Bedford Hill, the ruling grade out of Halifax.
