Comments on: A mid-spring Sunday afternoon reveals a potpourri of all GMD power assembled at CN’s Hamilton waterfront Stuart Street Yard facility. Left to right are GP9 4536, GP40-2L (W) 9631, freshly rebuilt GMD1u 1411 and mostly out of frame GP9 4537. Origin and disposition of the assortment as follows: • GMD1u 1411 – built by GMD in 1958 as GMD1 1009, rebuilt by Pointe St. Charles as GMD1u 1411 in 1989, retired in 2006. • GP9 4536 – built by GMD in 1957, rebuilt by AMF (Atelier Montreal Facility) as GP9u (GP9RM) 7053 in 1992, retired in 2010. • GP9 4537 – built by GMD in 1957, rebuilt by AMF (Atelier Montreal Facility) as GP9u (GP9RM) 7071 in 1992, still in service. • GP40-2L (W) 9631 – built by GMD in 1975, retired and sold to Watco in 2004, renumbered to WAMX 4021. Recently announced Metrolinx plans call for the shop building to be razed in order to provide a new right of way related to expanded, all day GO Transit service.

Apparently the shop structure (still owned by CN)is within the proposed access path to the recently announced MacNab Street North GO station. Time will tell.
