Comments on: A nice pair of clean 8200′s power the London Division’s Ham Turn (London to Hamilton and return). A daylight eastbound run of the Ham turn was quite rare. Most ‘fans would normally remember the Ham Turn as a daylight westward light power run to London, but this photo illustrates the reason why the Ham Turn existed – connecting Toyota loaded autos to Hamilton (for Buffalo). Without the Toyota traffic, the Ham Turn would not have existed.

Six CPR trains daily worked the extensive Galt yard trackage – almost every foot of available track was stuffed with loaded or empty autotracks at times and it took a lot of movements to keep traffic flowing. Wolverton Yard has made much of this track redundant and the electric yard at right was removed in the last two months. The times may have changed on the CPR but it’s still busy in Galt!

That's a hot mech reefer. Dating from the late 60's when CP first experimented painting different cars different colours (silver = mech reefer, yellow = insulated box, green = newsprint box, etc).
