Comments on: A short CP eastbound with C-424 4223 and SD40-2 5718 are pictured waiting at the east siding switch Wolverton for a meet with a westbound on the Galt Subdivision. The siding is situated just west of the town of Ayr, Ontario and is now home to a large CPKC yard and auto compound.

Thanks for the comment and information Ronald. That's interesting about westbounds reversing out of the siding onto the main after a meet.

It's great to see this photo, and it's surprising how much things can change in a relatively short time. It should be noted that while the siding was on the south side, they placed the yard on the north side. Back in train order days, yard limits for Ayr extended beyond Wolverton siding. On short westbounds, we would sometimes pull into the siding & then back out. That gave us a bit of a run for the hill toward Drumbo. Doing that move fulfilled the old requirement that we should do one standing train inspecting every 75 miles.
