Comments on: A shot I figured I’d never get again. A standard cab Dash-8 up front on a hot stack train. There was a time I would not go out of my way for a Dash-8 heading up a consist but thanks to a friendly heads up this morning I figured I’d see how things would play out. It is sad to see one by one all of CN’s Dash -8’s sent to scrap, (a few have found new homes). Today the active fleet can be counted with two hands and there time is not long here on earth as CN recently has been scrapping most that have been retired. I wonder how many more trips 2131 has left in it, before it’s demise. Only time will tell. Nevertheless as the sun quickly vanished CN train 148 began to tackle the slight grade at Tansley, and the location of the new intermodal yard that will be complete in the next few years. Former UP/CNW 2131 is in the lead while one of CN’s Dash-9 from one of the last orders is trailing. Hopefully this will not be the last CN Dash-8’s I cross paths with.

23 Standard cabs (all DMIR with some escapees), 1 widecab (2466), 1 cowl (4609) active by my count. I would happily be corrected if there are more!

Apparently this was one of the DMIR assigned units, not sure how is strayed away but getting rare across the rest of the system nonetheless.

The Dash 8′s are still operating on the DMIR (they never stopped). And there’s been a couple of these roaming for a while.
