@lostshoeranch- Thank you for the kind words on the photo and the background on the engineer in the cab.

That is a very tragic story indeed. At least he was able to enjoy some retirement even though it was tragically cut short. That’s cool that you have some great memories with him and souvenirs to remember him by. Thank you again for the comments.

This is a great photo....for so many different reasons. The engineer at the throttle waving at the local fans is Blythe Alexander Sexsmith (April 24 1958-May 6 2019). Blythe was very friendly and he had me up in his locomotive cab several times, and I still have a CNR and CPR timetable he gave me as a gift in 1986. Blythe worked tirelessly for 37 years on the CPR, and started on the track gang at age 19. He retired in 2014, and sadly was murdered in his home in 2019 in Trent Hills, Ont. His killer was found and arrested. This picture really brings me back...Blythe would always wave at the fans. It's just so sad that his life ended so tragically. Blythe left behind a loving wife and a son. Please say a prayer for them for inner peace if you have a moment.
