Comments on: A trio of CP GP38-2 locomotives pull traffic from the USA en route to Toronto. Units are 3087, 3082 and 3062. Train is just coming up to Clifton Hill tourist mecca, where it will snarl traffic as the slow moving train makes its way thru the city. In the background one can see, curving from the left, the autoracks as the train parallels Palmer Ave back there along Mile 1. This image is interesting as it shows so much of the area at that time. Billboards on the right behind Houdini’s include Marineland and Yuk-Yuks. The tower clock reads 1235, about right, so perhaps the clock actually works! One can see also on the right where the former second track used to be. Victoria Av on the left used to be part of Ontario Kings Hwy 20, but changes by the Mike Harris government, shedding themselves of responsibility, left the maintenance to the city. The Houdini structure actually used to be a railroad station many years ago……whose? Ferris Wheel on the right is gone, along with all the rest of Maple Leaf Village. Niagara Falls is ever-changing. Its a jungle out there……………and no more railroad. It lasted another 8 years or so.

I am VERY pleased you enjoy the Niagara Falls photos. These are some of my favourite CDN images because of the fact the track is long gone and it is hard to image now what once was.

Your right ! the station at Clifton was turned in to a souvenir stand first, the a wax museum
then a tourist center then Houdini’s. THe pictures of Niagara Falls are excellent. Thank you so much. I retired from the Kraft plant just up the road on Center St and Louis Ave. Again Thank You Again

I believe the “Houdini place” was built as a new shell over top of the original structure.
I hope a viewer will enlighten us.

There used to be the old Michigan Central Victoria Park station there, although I don’t think it was part of the Ripley’s structure. Photos show it lasted until at least the late 60′s.
