Comments on: A westbound VIA flies through the tiny village of Ernestown which is just west of Kingston. Unfortunately, this is just another passenger train that doesn’t have a scheduled stop at this station. The station in Ernestown is one of the original Grand Trunk stations that can be seen along the Kingston Sub and hasn’t been used for passenger service for several years now. And it would take ALOT to move a 100 plus year old station made out of that attractive stone in one move. Only option was that rumoured is to dismantle it brick by brick. However, CN maintenance crews used it until the late 80's. At that time, the interior was gutted by a fire from a vandal who had broken in, or the crews dropped a hot coal from the old stove that was used...I can't remember. I will have to someday dig up the article I have from my grandparents, that was written in one of the Napanee newspapers. Great shot Mike.
