Comments on: After seeing Seth B’s recent posted photo of CN 4763 at Redwater in 1988 it reminded me of when for the first time I witnessed three CN GP38-2(W)’s together for the only time in Kitchener 31 years after his photo.

Here CN train L540 with a trio of GP38-2(W)’s 4761, 4777 and 4781 is seen passing by the VIA Rail station in Kitchener heading to the Huron Park Spur with a sizeable train. The train worked the interchange with Canadian Pacific as well as switched Ampacet Canada Corporation. Also, this was the only time since that a train worked the Huron Park Spur with three GP38-2(W)’s.

I remember you there Kevin and I forget why I didn't make it all the way to Ampacet Canada to get them switching it. :(

In the early days of CN re-control of the Guelph Sub, the wide cab GPs dominated. I didn't complain. I got tired of the GMTX blue and white units real quick!

It was explained to me that gp38-2's were usually out west and not here... until after g.e.x.r takeover, so now that they are here and common to find them on the Guelph is new to cn fans.

That's pretty cool Jason. The 4761 is a rare unit for me. I only have a few pictures from the one instance that it passed through town as the 5561. I see the 2 in the back are purebreds, still sporting their zebra stripes. :-)
