Comments on: Algoma Central Agawa Canyon Tour Train racing northward just past mile 14 on a beautiful early sunlit morning. Power is AC 1750, 1756, 1754,1755 and 1751. I believe all these x-CN/VIA units now reside Stateside.

Sweet! A few of the F's are still in Canada. I think the Alberta Railway Museum has an A-B, and the West Coast Railway Museum has an A-unit too.

I tend to agree, I rode it in 2003 & though it still had the ex-UP dome car, power was CN SD75I's, (trip is on my url). Still a very pretty trip. Be interesting to see what the ex-Rio Grande ski train equipment (now in use on this train) with the forward-facing cctv cameras & TV screens in the coaches is like. Pete. http://northamericabyrail.info

It was at least 25 coaches, I forget exact number. Makes me think this was the "heyday" for this train. I'm not sure if taxes/gas prices/ticket prices or what it was, but ridership I believe declined in years after. I know I went up there wanting to ride behind all this exotic power, and did the day before shooting this. In later years, 2006, did the trip again; ticket prices way up and two CN SD40-2s for power. Sad. The "Tour" became a fruitless adventure in waiting out freight trains, resulting in more than 11 hours out. Tiring. I am sure the train has vastly improved since then. I may go back yet again.....

Must be on looong train with all that power! Wish CN had kapt the F's, and the dome cars (ex-UP, ex CZ) too for that matter. Our passenger train freinds at NARP at Capitol Court in Washington DC haven't forgotten their Canadian members and are speaking out about the possible loss of ACR (& Ocean Ltd) passenger service with a letter to the Canadian Ambassador: http://www.narprail.org/news/press-releases/2499-u-s-rail-passenger-association-urges-canada-to-maintain-threatened-service . That, plus 10% off VIA & Amtrak - my NARP membership looks like a better & better deal all the time!
