Comments on: Almost like they’re huddled together for warmth, GO Transit F59PH units 548, 539, 523, 538 and 542 sit tucked under the east end of the train shed at Toronto Union Station on a cold January afternoon, in charge of the rush-hour trains from Toronto awaiting departure. The time is 3:44pm. Each F59 heads up a different train, that always used the same regular tracks/platforms for loading every day: -542 on Track 3 is on Lakeshore West train #479 for Burlington, departing west at 4:10pm -538 on Track 4 is on Lakeshore East train #430 for Oshawa, departing at 4:10pm -523 on Track 5 is on Lakeshore East train #410 for Pickering, departing first at 3:45pm -539 on Track 6 is on Bradford Line train #801 for Bradford, departing at 4:10pm -548 on Track 7 is on Milton Line train #151 for Milton, departing later at 4:30pm Once one F59 disappeared, another would soon take its place, poking its angular head out from under the train shed until its departure time arrives. And the never-ending parade of F59′s and bilevels will continue well into the evening, getting all the downtown office workers home on time (most of the time).

They could’ve converted some of them, similar to what NCDOT did, but the idea of buying secondhand ones, plus some of their own back still baffles me. Even if it’s to run 6 car trains.

They also could’ve stored them somewhere. Just as a reminder, the first MP40′s will soon turn 20.
