I've been re-thinking my comments above & I'm wondering if this is in fact the Oakville Sub and the passenger train is headed to or from Toronto and the freight is on the joint section between Hamilton & Canpa.

Interesting photo Mike, for 2 reasons. First, that routing of the Amtrak equipment was short lived on the main line Dundas Sub, if I recall. Second, with regard to the freight, at first I thought it might be an NS freight, but then I noticed the MLW unit which so far as I know, NS never borrowed. Was it a detour account a wreck somewhere along the Galt Sub? It is worth noting that the head end of the CP train is comprised of hoppers which may have been loaded with ballast for track restoration.
