Comments on: An alert that a pair of my favourite type of locomotives were heading south on a CWR train was more than enough reason to get out of the house. Social distancing is pretty easy when railfanning, and apart from a great conversion across a road, I was on my own. Local knowledge is always great, and a last minute decision to change locales seemed to pay off. The CWR train sounded great, and even with the second unit dead, the hogger seems to be enjoying the trip. Window wide open and the sounds of a real unit.

Hi Brad. CWR means"continuous welded rail ".
The trains are run to take old rail for re-use in yards or secondary lines or to deliver it to where they are laying new rail.
