TTC PCC 4500, one of two historic PCC streetcars kept by the TTC, sits on the far track in storage next to 4132, 4161, 4001 and other CLRV cars. Going into the main building and asking politely, we were escorted into the yard (private property, no trespassing!) by a kind TTC employee and allowed to take some closer and interior photos of 4500 (4549 was buried further back and not accessible for photos). 4500 was part of the final order of new PCC streetcars built for Toronto in 1951 (A9-class 4500-4549, built by CC&F). In the late 1980′s the TTC rebuilt a handful of those cars into A15-class 4600′s for the new harbourfront LRT route. 4500 and 4549 were rebuilt in 1989, but retained their original numbers, were rebuilt close to their original appearance, and were repainted into their original livery. When the TTC disposed of their A15′s in the mid-90′s, both cars were retained for the historic fleet.Many years later, when the CLRV fleet retired in 2019, car 4001 was also kept by the TTC as part of the historic fleet.
