Comments on: An early start today took me to Guelph to get the 05:15 London GO train. The Guelph Sub is a stretch of track I have neglected to photograph over the years. Considering the few trains that do traverse it and the distance from Waterdown, its not exactly worth it. Another thing I have been neglecting is the F59′s, just like VIA’s F40′s as a teen, every time they came into frame, I would turn my back on them ( and I paid the price with almost no photos. ) Not this time! With this set and the Niagara Falls set recently having them and usually getting good light for most of the runs, makes it fairly predictable. Shamefully, MX has installed dreaded chain link fences along a fair stretch of ROW between Georgetown, Guelph and Kitchener. It really is a shame, several once good spots have been ruined by miles of chain link fence through open country side. I am not exactly sure what the job of them is, to stop a potential wandering cow or horse from trespassing perhaps.

fence runs all the way from Rockwood to Acton. Small bits popping up right near most crossings though with Metrolinx trespassing mats.

Very nice shot! I’ve spent a fair bit of time on that bridge back in the day. Yes a shame about the new fencing that in certain locations just doesn’t make much sense. The funniest part is the fence ends as soon as you get to Acton where there actually is people that could trespass, LOL.

The Guelph Sub fascinates me because of the fact CN took it back after decades of GEXR. I never liked GEXR, the orange era that be. Everything looked the same, but now that CN has it back, 80% of the equipment that runs it, did the same in the 70s, 80s and early 90s. It’s quite nostalgic.
