Comments on: An east bound Herzog, cn ballast train rounds the curve at Whitby. Three different CN style logo,s on three units. 2501 a little faded but up front and looking good. If you look closely at the top of the cars you will see solar panels. These cars are operated by satellite threw GPS and release the exact amount of ballast where needed along the right of way. For those who enjoy this location a little safety note. The wild life seems to be returning and along with it a black coyote, which was spotted by the bridge April 30th. Believed to be of a mixed breed and showed no fear.

Actually when the train is dumping ballast there is are Herzog crew members in the trailing unit with a laptop and wires running from the computer to the first car and all cars are connected. Yes they do use GPS to control the timing and flow of ballast.
