Comments on: An eastbound freight powered by an A-B set of Bessemer & Lake Erie F7s pulls into the Eastward siding at Copetown. Copetown had sidings on both sides of the main line (63 cars on the Eastward track and 61 cars on the Westward Track). A footnote in Timetable 22, February 19th 1961 stated “East switch of Westward siding at Copetown is an interlocking, operated from station. When stopped by fixed signal trainmen will communicate with Operator at Station and be governed by his instructions.” This locally controlled switch, of course, facilitated helper engines on the front of a train ascending the Copetown hill clearing the mainline.

fiddler, CN had some on lease at the time. They were probably almost a decade old at that point. CP also leased a few B&LE F's in the early 70's.

What beautiful clean units. Are they leased by CN? My kmowledge of B&LE is limited to their operation from Lake Erie to the steel mills in the Pittsburgh area. How old would these units be? Thanks for a nice shot of my favourite locomotive,Alan.
