At Jasper Alberta on a chilly late summer afternoon ( +1c ) Sept 12, 2018 afternoon; image by S Danko what’s interesting The Grand Trunk Pacific Railway ( GTP ) founded Fitzhugh Alberta in 1911 by the by placing a siding at this location ( Fitzhugh was a GTP Vice President) In 1913 the GTP renamed Fitzhugh to Jasper, recognizing the importance of nearby Jasper House founded 1913 by the North West Company Present Jasper station built by the CNR circa 1926 The station was declared a heritage railway station by the federal government in 1992.
