I remember once seeing Trillium 110 stop in the middle of street running on the Townline Spur to get a pack of darts and a Pepsi. Crazy stuff.

Similar story: in Kingston, the Cataraqui spur runs behind the Frontenac Mall. In the 1990s, the mall had an independent donut/coffee shop. The crew on the CN wayfreight would often stop behind the mall and go inside for their break.

I once saw a CN switcher stop near a Tims on the now torn up Lachine Spur. Unfortunately in a pre-smart phone time, so didn’t document it either.

Great photo! Reminds me of the times I had seen this in Caledonia (ON), when the Tim’s opened up mid 90s on the site that was Slack Lumber – all beside the Argyle Street crossing. CN crews, would take a break and walk over….too bad I never documented it though.
