Comments on: And YOU think YOUR mainline is quiet, Dept: This image would not have seen the light of day here on RP.ca if it were not for Bill Hooper’s great shot ( http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=8335 ) of the “Bery Ferry” ready to “set sail” on Slocan Lake. For this is its’ destination. Rosebery, BC. The 1977 CP Timetable lists yard capacity as 4, so we are one quarter of the way by the look of it. And the old station is still in situ !!
Amazing. There once was a remarkable network of isolated branchlines in the BC interior. No more.

Except for the mountains, I'd figure this was Merritton's old train station.

Perhaps they didn't have enough room on the barge for it, so left it until next time? :)

So - if an engine with some cars came over by barge on Slocan lake - how did this car get where it was and why would it be sitting there? I'd assume there was no engine on the isolated portion of the line to switch cars to any customers, whoever, and wherever they may be.. curious to operations in this day and age if anyone has insight.
