Comments on: Another train I really miss these days is the old Guelph Junction turn that used to run from Toronto to the junction to mainly switch out OSR traffic then return home. It usually was in the junction from mid morning until early afternoon. When I started railfanning in the mid 1990′s CP had two sets of power assigned to the junction. One was used for the run to Guelph and the other ran to Streetsville and back. When OSR took over here the Streetsville job was relocated to Toronto as a home base. In the mid 1990′s CP ran another Guelph turn job that typically had two SD40′ and ran straight from Toronto to Guelph Jct. then dropped cars in Streetsville yard before returning home. When OSR began this job ended and was replaced with the train sees here. unfortunately a turn in the economy in 2007 would claim this train with it not returning again. Today the switch off the mainline seen here has been removed and any traffic for the Guelph Jct. Railway is dropped by mainline trains. It was nice this day catching a clean GP40 as typically GP9′s rules this train.

Funny how that Texaco property still sits empty in the middle of a busy tourist area. They must have really wrecked the land there. The only good thing about the temporary closure of Lambton was different power on T14 almost every day it ran. Miss that from the same old units that are on it these days for weeks at a time.

Oh right. I think they were talking about closing '1' of the Yards. Prime Real Estate but it would take them awhile to sift out the dirt. But if I know Port Credit, there's 'ways around that' at the old Texaco lands.

If I recall for a period after 2007 Lambton yard was basically closed, and crews and power were assigned to Toronto. This did revert later on back to Lambton.

Marcus, thanks for this. From one (close to) home to another. Currently i'm in The Junction. I'm not clear about "the Streetsville job was relocated to Toronto", I thought it always operated out of Lambton. Where else did it operate out of? (if i'm reading right). The turn, as you probably know, now alternates between 'Streetsville turn' and the 'Hornby turn'.
