We took the trains to Aberdeen & the TH&B put their own power on them. Depending on operational needs, we could be sent back to London or back to Guelph Jct & then to Toronto. These decisions were based on power/van/crew supply demands. It was common to have the 3 SD-40-2s & only the van, especially if heading for Toronto from Aberdeen. On one trip we were running with light engines & van & slotted between morning GO trains. Passengers along platforms seemed surprised when we went by them at track speed without stopping.
