Comments on: Around 715 AM on Canada Day, Via 6412 train number unknown , rounds the curve at Whitby east bound. With more Via trains having units at both ends and combining two trains, one has to wonder about the efficiency of a train like this. 11000 hp ? Can anybody shed a little knowledge on the EB?

This looks like trains 60/50 heading towards Ottawa and Montreal. VIA has been replacing the seats in their LRC cars with the new 50/50 seating arrangement, the intention being that the trains will not have to turn around when they reach their final destination, just reverse direction. I have heard that to accomplish this, the plan is to run trains with locomotives at both ends. Currently, the schedule does not seem to have the extra trains that this setup is supposed to allow (most likely to happen later this year or early next), so the trains are still being turned around at the end of the line.
