Comments on: As the winter sets in, the new Express Building and Carload Centre is nearing completion on the site of the now demolished roundhouse at Stuart Street Yard. This facility will replace CN’s Express Sheds on Ferguson Avenue and also house other employees involved in yard operations. Note the “shed tracks” on either side of the building and the team tracks on the left (occupied by work equipment). The gondolas of steel are for Stelco’s Ontario Works (not in the picture).

The Bayview-Hamilton CTC panel was initially installed in the dispatcher's office at Hamilton station (1958), Steve. I believe Bayview and Hamilton Jct were moved to Toronto Yard and added to the Halton sub YA desk when the "Toronto Access Lines" were commissioned. N&NW Jct, the "middle switches", and the entrance to the North Yard were left under the control of a Train Movement Director in the Carload Centre (yardmaster tower). The TMD's position was consolidated with the NI dispatcher's job (Grimsby sub and Niagara CTC) in the mid-1980s.

Wasn't the Hamilton Terminal CTC board located in here too?

I was watching a railtime video from early 1990's and GO trains would go in and out of Stuart St / CNR station tracks without throwing switches, telling me it was fully automated and CTC - but was it controlled out of Hamilton Terminal until they abandoned the building and ripped out the track? Track was removed around 1999/2000 IIRC

Reading the October 1965 UCRS Newsletter, I found this item: "On September 21st [1965], Canadian National officially opened its new $1.3 million automated express freight terminal at Hamilton, Ont. Heart of the operation is an 1100-foot dragline which moves clockwise around the terminal warehouse at 80 feet per minute, towing carts to 69 automatic "switch-off" spurs leading to waiting trucks and rail cars. The line has capacity of 110 carts.

The Terminal is located at Stuart and Queen Sts., and consists of a two-storey office building, warehouse, new diesel shop, two piggyback ramps, and a team track for direct loading and unloading between rail car and truck. Work on the project began in April 1964, and was completed a year later. Combined in the new facility are Hamilton's Express and LCL freight services, formerly located at the CN passenger station and the Ferguson Avenue freight sheds."

As I understand it, Hamilton was a demonstration project for a larger automated express installation which was installed at Toronto Yard (now MacMillan Yard), which opened about a year later.
