Comments on: Awh, geez. If it isn’t one thing or another that slows down the CP as they go about their daily business. We were almost thinking to give up …… but after 3 hours? No, wait it out. So finally as the sun is behind the clouds and the day is winding down, about 1915 hrs the ‘catch of the day’ finally shows up. CP 8114, 8129, and six x-KCS, all marked for Progress Rail (PRLX) in tow…3927, 3947, 3951, 3918, 3926 and 3964. Followed it down to Newman Rd (Dundas) just because it was on the way home, but dusk had settled in by then.

Brad google the Ring of Fire north of Nakina.

it's a project for chromite, copper and nickel now owned mostly by Wyloo (Large Australian mining company that owns major mines and operates railway(s) and plans to finally develop this project). It's 250 miles from the nearest railead and 100-150 miles from nearest road and needs a lot of infrastructure to get going.

The smelters are planned to be in Sudbury and Sault St Marie so the ore/etc will have to go by rail. Big project. Been in the works for 20 years and is starting to finally heat up with real action. Still 10 years away.

The ring of fire is so far from anything happening...

I have a theory on this but i'll wait for more constructive evidence before I say anything in writing

They ended up at Raceland but cheer up - they have been purchased by Ontario Northland Railway and will soon make their way to North Bay, where they will become ONT 2300-2305 in some order or another.
This is not an April Fool's entry !

Yes. I don't think the PRLX units to Dansville is confirmed yet. Some think they are going back to PRLX. (Raceland, etc). Dansville may just be a stop on the way. Or they just don't go there. Will be interesting to see what they do.
